The most important question I’ve heard John Maxwell answer...

At a recent Wellspring Gathering in Cabo, one of our members asked leadership legend John Maxwell one of the most profound questions I’ve ever heard posed to him:

"If this were your last conversation—no books, no podcasts, no teachings—and you were sitting with the people you love most, what wisdom would you leave with them?"

The room leaned in as John shared from the heart 4 timeless lessons—and a 5th that he usually reserves for private moments:

⓵ YOUR INNER CIRCLE WILL DEFINE YOU

"Those closest to you will determine your level of success."

The people around you will either elevate you or pull you down. Choose your inner circle intentionally. Big dreams require the right team.

⓶ YOUR PERSPECTIVE SHAPES YOUR LIFE

"How you view things is how you do things."

If you see life through scarcity, that’s what you’ll experience. If you view life through abundance, you’ll walk in abundance. Mindset—not IQ—is the greatest separator between those who succeed and those who don’t.

⓷ CONSISTENCY BEATS INTENSITY

"Consistency compounds."

Success doesn’t come from big bursts of activity. It comes from small, steady action over time. Like an ice cube that melts at 32 degrees after consistent effort, your unseen discipline will eventually create visible breakthroughs.

⓸ YOUR CHOICES MATTER MORE THAN YOUR TALENT

"Your choices will shape your success more than anything else."

Talent may open the door, but wise, intentional choices determine how far you go. As John encouraged, teach your children to value the choices they make, not just the gifts they have.

⓹ THE 5TH LESSON: HIS FAITH

Finally, John shared that the foundation for it all is his faith in God.

"People are hungry for God. Unfortunately, the church has often made them angry instead of hungry. We must lead with love, no matter where someone is in life."

As I listened in that room, I was reminded again that true success is holistic. It isn’t just about business, it’s about thriving in every domain of life: Business, Wealth, Health, Relationships, and Faith!
