A Faith Habit That Changed Everything for Me in Business and Life
WIN IN FAITH
A Faith Habit That Changed Everything for Me in Business and Life.
Can I tell you about something that’s made a bigger impact on my business than almost anything else? Starting each day with one powerful question.
I didn’t invent it. I learned it from business leaders I deeply respect—people like Sean Copeland, David Green, and Don Wenner.
These are high-capacity business owners leading massive companies, managing billions, and impacting thousands. But they all have one thing in common:
They start every day by asking this question... (watch the video to find out)
Sean Copeland bought a bank in Oklahoma at the worst possible time: 2009. Economists told him it couldn’t have been a worse move. The bank was on the edge of shutting down.
On Sunday, he was in church, completely overwhelmed, singing a worship song about healing. He broke down and cried out:
“If you really still heal, then do it now. Show me.”
The very next morning, Sean woke up and asked God,
“What do you want me to do today?”
And he listened.
That was the beginning of a habit that changed everything.
Days later, he got a call from the U.S. Treasury that gave him access to a loan program—providing exactly the amount of money he needed to keep the bank afloat.
Today, that same bank is one of the strongest in Oklahoma. But more than that, Sean’s leadership has helped thousands of business owners incorporate their faith into the workplace. What started as a desperate prayer has led to a community of 13,000+ Christian business leaders who now do the same.
I’ve heard David Green, founder of Hobby Lobby, share a similar habit.
Every morning he spends 30 to 60 minutes asking the Holy Spirit for direction.
And he listens.
That’s where this hits home for me.
Some of the most powerful ideas, moments, and relationships in my life have come from these moments of quiet, intentional listening.
The Wellspring itself—the group I lead today—started with a whisper I heard in one of those early morning moments.
This wasn’t about working harder...
It was about starting the day with clear direction—not just from a calendar or quarterly plan, but from a place of listening.
✅ Sean still does this every day from 5:00 to 5:30 a.m.
✅ David Green does it for 30–60 minutes each morning.
✅ And I’ve started doing it for just 5–10 minutes… and it’s already changing how I lead, decide, and grow.
Some of the best ideas and relationships in my life—including the genesis of The Wellspring—came from this methodology.
Here’s what I’m learning:
✔️ Starting my day by asking for direction is more powerful than any strategy session
✔️ There are business moves I would’ve never thought of on my own
✔️ Slowing down actually speeds up breakthrough
✔️ This habit doesn’t take hours, but it does take intentionality
I’m not teaching this as a mastery principle. I’m sharing it, because it’s impacting me deeply right now. And if you’re anything like me—running a business, leading people, managing a full life—this one practice could help you find direction, peace, and clarity.
You don’t need to overhaul your morning routine. Just start with five minutes.
You might be surprised what you hear.
You might be surprised how much you start winning in every area of your life!
Let’s keep winning together,
Pete
