WIN IN RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships Are Key to Everything Good—and Everything Hard—in Business and Life
Featuring Jennie Allen: Author. Teacher. Gatherer.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from leaders like my friend Jennie Allen, it’s this: relationships are at the root of everything.
Think about it.
Every good thing in your life—joy, growth, opportunity, breakthrough—flows through relationships. And every hard thing—conflict, disappointment, stress, or even burnout—is usually tied to relationships too.
We are not wired to go at life alone. Jennie put it this way:
“We’ve got an isolation crisis that I believe is fueling the mental health crisis, because your brain was created for connection. The way that you heal is through relationship.”
That truth is especially important for high-capacity leaders. The higher you climb, the more isolated you tend to feel. The pressures get heavier, and fewer people can truly understand what you’re carrying. You might have a church small group or supportive friends—but when it comes to the specific pressures of leadership, business, and influence, even well-intentioned people may not have the framework to help.
And that’s why so many leaders are quietly struggling.
Why Isolation Makes Everything Worse
Isolation is a silent killer. It doesn’t just make you lonely—it makes you vulnerable. When you’re isolated:
Your struggles echo louder in your mind.
Anxiety grows unchecked.
You lose perspective and begin to believe the lie that you’re the only one facing what you’re facing.
The enemy has room to distort truth and keep you stuck.
Jennie reminds us: healing happens in connection. When you’re connected to God and to others who “get it,” you stop spiraling and start healing.
The Power of the Right Associations
Here’s the reality: not all relationships are created equal.
The people you surround yourself with will either fuel your growth or feed your decline. You’ve probably experienced this—how one negative association can drag you down, while one right association can pull you up and change the trajectory of your life.
The Bible says, “Bad company corrupts good character.” in 1 Corinthians 15:33.The opposite is also true: the right company strengthens and multiplies your capacity.
As a leader, the stakes are even higher. You need people around you who:
Understand the pressures you face.
Call you higher when you’re tempted to settle.
Sharpen your thinking and strengthen your spirit.
Remind you of truth when the lies of isolation creep in.
This is the power of the right associations. They don’t just add value—they transform your ability to lead well and live well.
Why the Right Relationships Change Everything
When leaders surround themselves with other leaders who understand the weight of responsibility, something powerful happens:
You’re reminded you’re not crazy—you’re not alone.
You get language and strategies to navigate challenges that felt impossible.
You gain encouragement that re-ignites your faith and your vision.
You walk away sharper, healthier, and more equipped to face what’s next.
This is why we believe so deeply in the Wellspring community. It’s not just another network. It’s a place of deep connection, where isolation is replaced with belonging, and loneliness is replaced with purpose.
The Big Takeaway
If relationships are key to everything good and everything hard in business and life, then the most important investment you can make is in the right associations.
You don’t need to carry the pressures alone. You don’t have to figure it out in isolation. You can step into a community that understands, that prays, that sharpens, and that helps you thrive.
Because when leaders stop walking alone, they step into the kind of connection that changes everything.
Let’s keep winning—together.
